Activity Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in La Paz and head towards La Ventana. After about 1.5 hours, we'll arrive at the port of La Ventana to board a boat and begin this exciting journey through the waters of the Sea of Cortez. As soon as we set sail, we will begin to explore one of the most biodiverse marine environments in the world. Here we go!
During our sail, we'll go in search of some of the most fascinating creatures in the ocean. With a little luck, we'll spot orcas, dolphins, devil rays, and different species of whales in the wild. Did you know that this sea was dubbed by Jacques Cousteau “the aquarium of the world?”
But the fun isn't just surface level. We'll snorkel in the coral reefs and other natural ecosystems for a closer look at the marine fauna below. We'll get you all geared up and leave you to dive underwater and enjoy a closer look at schools of multicolored fish, corals, starfish… A real underwater wonder!
Throughout the safari, we'll explain the importance of the conservation of these marine habitats. In addition, we'll share with you fun facts about the species we find and help you identify each animal. Fun and learning all in one!
To end the day on a high note, we'll stop at one of these places depending on the sea conditions: the coast of Cerralvo Island or the quiet beach of Punta Arenas. There, we'll have a delicious ceviche prepared on the spot as we admire the landscape, a perfect end in front of the sea!
Finally, we'll return to the mainland and start our way back to your hotel in La Paz, where we'll say goodbye after about 8 hours in total.
Animal Sightings
The Sea of Cortez is one of the best places in the world to see marine animals. However, the animals are fairly unpredictable creatures, so we can't promise a sighting. The chances of spotting them depend on various natural and weather-related factors.
